Are ECM and CDI the same thing?

I have a 2006 Rincon 680 and I'm trying to understand more on the ECM setup. From what I learned so far, there's a box with two plugs that handles the auto transmission shifting, and another box with a single plug that controls the system. Is that 2nd box the actual ECM, or is it also referred to as the CDI? Are they the same thing or separate components?

they're different. the electronic control module and capacitor discharge ignition work together and are equally important to the performance

What does your service manual call each unit, does it label one as ECM and the other as transmission control? On older ATVs, CDI and ECM can be separate, but sometimes people use the terms interchangeably.

Honestly, im still a bit confused right now. I actually dont know how to answer this, i think i should re-read the manual
